It has been four years since Chive Charities first introduced the community to Nyla and her mom, Natasha. While their journey has brought new challenges, their resilience and positivity continue to inspire.
Over the past year, Nyla was diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that causes atonic seizures. What were once believed to be muscle spasms turned out to be seizures, and Nyla now requires constant supervision as she is no longer able to walk independently.
Despite these changes, Nyla continues to be the same joyful, loving young woman with a smile that brightens every room. She enjoys spending time at the YMCA pool, where water therapy helps her exercise muscles she doesn't use every day.
This year also brought special milestones. Nyla graduated from school (woohoo!) Natasha shared that Nyla and the family celebrated the occasion at Night to Shine, where she danced the night away with friends and created wonderful memories.
The family's accessible van recently underwent major repairs and is expected to be back on the road soon. Through every challenge, Natasha remains focused on keeping Nyla safe and helping her enjoy life to the fullest. They are grateful for the continued love and support from the Chive Charities community and look forward to sharing more updates from Nyla and Natasha in the future!
