Many in the Crown Point community know and love the Kabella family. Their son, Emmett, was diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic disorder called UBA5, a degenerative brain disease with fewer than 30 known cases worldwide. Despite all the challenges, Emmett has always been full of laughter, strength, and resilience.
Now, Emmett is in the fight of his life.
Recently, his condition has worsened, and he's been hospitalized for weeks as doctors search for answers. His parents, Jake (a firefighter/medic with Crown Point Fire) and Kristi (who works at the local YMCA and Crown Point schools), have not left his side — balancing work, care for their other children, and this unimaginable stress.
Family and friends have launched a fundraiser to support the Kabellas during this critical time. All proceeds will help ease the financial burden from medical expenses, time off work, and ongoing care needs.

Above all, the family asks for continued prayers and support as Emmett fights to come home.
