This past Spring brought both challenges and celebrations for Desmond and his family. After spending his 6th birthday in the hospital, Desmond is now home and thriving.

“Desmond is currently doing really well after having a pretty tough Spring,” his mom shared. “He did spend his 6th birthday in the hospital but has been doing really amazing since being back home.”

Now, he’s embarking on a major milestone—preschool graduation—and is getting ready for Kindergarten next year!

Through it all, the wheelchair-accessible van provided by Chive Charities has been a lifeline. “The van continues to be life-changing for our family,” his mom wrote. “Desmond is always comfortable when going to his many specialist appointments.” She added that the van has even served as a kind of emergency vehicle, helping her get Desmond to the ER quickly and safely when needed.

But it’s not just about appointments and hospital runs. The van has also made joyful memories possible. “We have also used the van to go on so many memorable adventures as a family!” she said. Most recently, they packed it full—six people, luggage, and medical equipment—for a family wedding trip to Maine.
