6 Years Later: Amanda’s Life Looks Completely Different

September 23, 2025

When we first shared Amanda’s story, she had just received a custom prosthetic leg through her Chive Charities grant — a life-changing gift that allowed her to walk more comfortably and confidently after losing her leg to cancer.

Since then, Amanda’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“Things on my end are going great!” she wrote to us. “Since my Chive Charities grant, I got married, I beat (another!) cancer (ovarian), I went on my honeymoon to Ireland, Scotland, and Iceland, my husband and I bought a house, and I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Matteo in 2024.”

Through it all, Amanda's prosthetic was there to support her along the way.

“The prosthetic leg I received through Chive Charities was the leg I used walking down the aisle to marry my husband,” she shared. “It was the leg I used to explore three European countries, and it was the leg that kept me stable all throughout my pregnancy.”

While the leg eventually wore down in late 2024 — as all prosthetics do — Amanda had just started a new job with insurance that covered most of the cost of a replacement. Life looks different these days, but in the best way possible.

“Life is much different as a mom, but I love it,” she said. “My son is a little over 18 months old and is such a joy — I swear he is the happiest kid.”

Amanda, we are so proud of you — and so honored to be even a small part of your journey. Thank you for sharing your life with us and for letting our community walk beside you, every step of the way.
