Oakley attended a Prune Belly Syndrome convention

April 20, 2015

Last weekend, there was a Prune Belly Syndrome convention in Chicago. The Savickas family couldn’t afford to attend and were very disappointed. But the Prune Belly Network sponsored their room and convention fees so they could attend! Oakley got to make friends like this adorable little gut and had such a good time the family is going to try to fundraise for the yearly 5-day convention in July. Sarah said the experience “took their breath away. Considering that PBS is so rare, meeting other parents and for Oakley to meet other kids like him just took my breath away. Hugging another mom who has been where I’ve been was indescribable.”

This Friday Oakley has a scan that will give them some insight into how his major surgery last August went. If the scan comes back with positive results, Oakley will not have to have surgery again. So cross your fingers, Chivers! Other than that, he's enjoying baseball games as a part of "Team Impact" and has had a blast cheering on his team! His family is also doing their Spring/Summer giveback for their local Children's Hospital to pay it forward. It collects aft supplies for the Child Life team. They know how important this is because of how much Oakley loved painting and drawing to take his mind off things while he was in the hospital.
