May 7, 1977 – December 21, 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Jason P., a courageous Air Force and Marine Corps veteran, devoted husband and father, and beloved member of the Chive Charities family. Jason passed away on December 21, 2023. 

Jason was Military Police and Security Forces, dedicating his life to caring for others. After returning home, he continued to fight—this time for his own life and for the countless veterans facing the devastating effects of toxic exposure. He endured years of grueling treatments, clinical trials, and uncertainty, but never lost hope. His resilience and honesty touched everyone who heard his story.

When Jason was introduced to us, we saw not only a fighter but a father who wanted more time, more comfort, and more peace in his days. Through a Chive Charities grant, he was paired with Rex, a highly trained service dog who provided critical emotional and physical support during the most difficult chapters of his journey. Rex was more than a companion—he was part of the family, offering calm, stability, and love when it was needed most.

Jason's legacy is one of bravery, compassion, and advocacy. He brought awareness to a cause that impacts so many and reminded us of the importance of standing by those who serve. Our thoughts are with his wife, his children, and everyone who loved him.
