Chive Charities Names The Independence Fund as $10,000 Grant Recipient

Together, the non-profit organizations will help 40 Veteran families.

Charlotte, NC (June 22, 2022) — Austin, TX-based non-profit organization, Chive Charities, has selected a mission-aligned non-profit organization, The Independence Fund, to be the recipient of a $10,000 grant benefiting Veterans and their families. The Independence Fund is dedicated to empowering severely wounded Veterans and their caregivers to take control of their lives by providing resources and tools for Veterans to regain their independence. Their whole family approach allows for the best chance at sustained success in the Veteran’s recovery.

Since Chive Charities’ inception in 2012, Veterans have been a bedrock part of the Chive Charities recipient family. With over $4 million in support awarded to over 140 Veterans from every military branch, the commitment to our nation’s heroes remains steadfast. Whether it’s purchasing a service dog for a former marine or completing an accessible home renovation for a retired soldier, the Non-Profit specializes in providing items that improve the quality of life for Veterans.

“When The Independence Fund’s application came across our desks, it was an easy yes. Our missions for serving Veterans are so similar,” said Brian Mercedes, Executive Director at Chive Charities. “Veterans and military families are a core part of the Chive Charities mission and The Independence Fund helps the Veterans and caregivers who need it most. If that’s not a real impact, I don’t know what is.”

“We are always so grateful for community partners who recognize the importance of mental health and mental and emotional wholeness for Veterans, and especially during June’s PTSD Awareness Month. We know the impact of Operation RESILIENCY retreats, and the way these reunions have the power to heal years-long invisible wounds. Thank you to Chive Charities’ donors for aligning with us in support of this amazing program and expanding its reach with these funds,” Sarah Verardo, CEO The Independence Fund.
