AUSTIN -- A local group is raising money for a North Austin boy with a rare disease that affects less than one percent of the American population.
Gershon Thomas’ life completely changed last year when he was diagnosed with Arterioveneous Malformation or AVM, a condition involving tangled blood vessels in the brain that eventually burst,
"Here is a guy with limited mobility, and brain trauma, who has fought through seven brain surgeries to get to this moment today,” said John Resig, co-founder of Chive Charities.
"You can't detect it unless you get a brain scan,” said Carlo Rolla, Gershon’s mother,.
Last year, he collapsed into his mother's arms and fell into a coma for five months. Gershon lost his ability to move and speak....
