AUSTIN, February 11, 2025 - Chive Charities and Brain Armor have joined forces to make a lasting impact on the life of Army Veteran Braxton M., providing vital support for his journey toward healing and independence.
After serving in Afghanistan as a combat engineer, Braxton returned home to Vinton, Iowa, facing the challenges of PTSD, chronic pain and the responsibility of becoming the legal guardian of his twin siblings. His transition to civilian life was not easy, but his unwavering commitment to service continued—first as an EMT, then as a police officer and paramedic. However, his struggles with PTSD became more pronounced, leading him to seek additional support, including the companionship of his service dog, Niko.
Recognizing the profound impact of service animals on mental and physical well-being, Braxton sought assistance for acquiring a new service dog as Niko neared retirement. Brain Armor generously donated $5,000 to help offset the cost of training a new service animal, while Chive Charities donors covered the remaining expenses, bringing the total impact to $10,000.
